Description
Summary
Hall built in 1820 and lived in by Lyon family until they moved away. In 1850, Bagshaw’s Directory described Appleton Hall as a beautiful, modern mansion, stuccoed, and surrounded with a finely undulating park, interspersed with shrubberies and plantations.
Hall now demolished. Site now a school and surrounding parkland is a modern housing estate. Some farmland remains.

Drive to school follows the same line as when it led to the Hall

Farms and houses on the wider estate
Quarry - disused
Lyon obelisk is still on High Warren (golf course) but not accessible as the land it stands on is owned by United Utilities.
