Description
The assessment has revealed that the proposed development site has seemingly remained undeveloped throughout the post medieval period, but did form part of parkland associated with Davenham Hall, a mid-late 18th century country house.
Trees relating to this parkland survive along the boundaries, and within the site. There is some evidence that it has been utilised for agricultural purposes and documentary sources have also indicated that part of the site may have been
situated on the periphery of Mere Heath.
It is therefore possible below-ground remains relating to early 19th century properties shown to have existed around the heath may survive sub-surface within the western part of the proposed development site.
