Description
Heritage statement produced in 2017 in support of a planning application for a property on land at St. Mary's Drive, Whitegate, Northwich. The property comprises a single storey building adjoining a former substation and abutting the west side of the boundary wall to the grounds of the former Vale Royal Abbey, a Grade II* listed building. Also, to the south-west of the proposal site, is the Grade II listed former stable block of the abbey. The study summarises the history of the Vale Royal Abbey site.
Although the building proposed for re-development lies within the Vale Royal Abbey estate, it is a twentieth century structure with no historical significance. It is not depicted on historic mapping and appears to date post 1938. (1)
