Description
Archaeological desk-based assessment undertaken in September 2017 for land at Tanyard Farm, Rush Green Road, Lymm, WA13 9RH, grid reference NGR SJ690875 in advance of development of the site.
There is very little evidence for prehistoric or Roman settlement activity within the immediate vicinity of the site and no reported finds from the site or adjacent fields. It is therefore concluded that the archaeological potential of the site for these periods is low. There is no evidence to suggest that the site was settled during the medieval or early post medieval period. The site is likely to have been in agricultural use during these periods. The site therefore also has a low potential for archaeologically significant remains from this period. The site has been used as a plant nursery during the later modern period, which is no longer extant and the site is currently being used for a range of industrial purposes. These more recent activities are likely to have truncated any earlier evidence and the site is therefore considered to have a negligible potential for the presence and survival of any previously unrecorded archaeologically significant remains within the previously developed parts of the site.
