Description
Archaeologically controlled metal detector survey on land at Dodleston Hall Farm, Kinnerton Road, Dodleston, Cheshire, ahead of the proposed erection of a new poultry unit
The survey involved the systematic collection of subsurface metal artefacts as an indicator of past site use and the potential presence of subsurface archaeological features.
A total of 41 metal objects were recovered, none of which can be dated with confidence to before the post-medieval period. In addition to the metal objects, two prehistoric lithic objects and a small assemblage of post-medieval ceramics were recovered from the ground surface.
Analysis of the distribution of the objects recovered did not reveal any clear concentrations of objects or objects of particular significance. Therefore no areas within the survey area are considered to hold further potential for intrusive archaeological field assessment.
