Description

An archaeological evaluation, comprising the excavation of three trenches, was undertaken during October 2016 in the grounds of Abbey Gate College, Saighton, Cheshire (centring on NGR SJ 4427 6185). The trenches were excavated in order to assess the potential impact of a proposed extension to an existing science laboratory building upon any surviving below-ground archaeology. The results of the archaeological evaluation have demonstrated that, as far as can be reasonably demonstrated, little of archaeological significance lies within the area of the proposed new extension.
