Description
A site at land to the north of Sealand Road, Chester, is being proposed for redevelopment.
Historic research indicates that the site has never undergone any development and that it is likely that site has only ever operated as seasonal pasture.
Historic research suggests that there is a low potential for all periods from the Prehistoric through to modern. Prehistoric to Medieval period features, should they be present, would be of High significance. Post Medieval and Modern features, should they be present, would be of negligible significance.
The impact of the development will be high throughout the site within the footprint of the new building's foundations for the proposed development and probably at the location of service trenches, as these works may encounter unknown archaeological deposits.
It is suggested that geotechnical investigations be carried out to aid in understanding the depths of alluvium on the site to identify the potential for buried Prehistoric features. This may lead to a programme of palaeoenvironmental assessment.
