Description

Clearance of the site prior to the construction of a showroom for the Grosvenor Motor Company c.1963. The northern part of this site, which contained buildings associated with the Malt Store, was cleared c.1960 (see ECH6260). Contemporary photographs indicate that this part of the site, conatining the remaining parts of the row and terraced housing along Duke Street was cleared c.1963. It appears that the demolition was, at least in part, to facilitate the widening of Duke Street.
