Description
Archaeological watching brief during groundworks associated with the erection of a new detached dwelling on land adjacent to 9 Belgrave Street, Chester (centring on NGR SJ 41140 66948).
The site lies within an area once occupied by Chester’s first railway station and a small ancillary building occupied part of the site. Initial groundworks, comprising foundation trenches and a pit to accommodate a new drainage inspection chamber, were monitored but no archaeological features or deposits of significance were encountered.
