Description

The assessment has revealed that from at least the early post medieval period the proposed development site appears to have been agricultural in character. By the second half of the 19th century features associated with the railway were constructed in close proximity to the site, and by the mid-20th century a ‘Depot’ was erected on the site; this building still stands and is in use as offices. The assessment has identified the possibility that sub-surface archaeological remains relating to the Roman and post medieval periods may survive within the site boundary.
