Site Event/Activity record ECH6164 - Heritage Assessment: Land off Warmingham Lane, Middlewich, Cheshire

Heritage assessment produced in 2015 for an area of land of, circa 15ha, proposed for residential development to the west of Warmingham Lane, Middlewich, Cheshire. The assessment established that there were no designated or non-designated heritage assets within the study area and although there are some listed buildings and a conservation area nearby, they would not be adversely affected by the development. The assessment also considered that the potential for as yet undiscovered archaeological assets to exist within the site to be low. Although the location of the site near Middlewich and two Roman roads accords the site some limited potential for below ground remains. The site has been agricultural land since at least the 18th century and probably since the 13th century. Significantly no archaeological remains were found during recent investigations just to the north of the current site. (1)
