Description

An archaeological evaluation comprising three trenches (5m by 2m) was undertaken by L-P Archaeology at the Boathouse, Chester between 27th and 30th July 2015 as a part of a condition of planning consent. The site is located on the north bank of the River Dee in an area thought to have been used for quarrrying of sandstone since at least the Medieval period. The results of the evaluation show 20th century activity extending to a depth of between 0.4 and 0.5m below ground level where Post Medieval garden depostits were encountered. No activity pre-dating the 18th-19th centuries was identified.
