Description
An archaeological evaluation and metal detecting survey. Three trial trenches, each 20m in length were excavated. Two trenches revealed evidence for former quarrying on the site with the presence of modern debris/ rubbish deposits. No archaeological features or deposits were present within the trenches and no finds were recovered or observed aside from the modern debris.
The metal detector survey undertaken across four small paddocks revealed a small number of post medieval artefacts recovered in a random scatter across the site. No additional information can be discerned from their spatial relationship and it seems probable that all the finds relate to chance losses.
