Description
Archaeological investigations undertaken during redevelopment (Planning Application ref: 12/04663/FUL) of the site of No. 30 Frodsham Street, Chester revealed multi-period archaeological layers and features. Although two of the three trial trenches excavated demonstrated widespread and deep disturbance to the archaeological sequence (through late post-medieval cellaring), the third trench contained two surfaces dating (probably) to the Roman period. The earlier of the two surfaces could be confidently identified as that of the Roman legionary parade ground.
