Description
Desk based assessment identifies two different levels of potential for archaeological remains and deposits to survive within the site. The majority of the site was redeveloped in the 1960s and 70s and involved the demolition of former structures and groundwork for the construction of large new buildings, so this is judged as having low potential.
The large number of buildings along Bridge street date mainly to the 18th and 19th centuries with a series of alleyways and backyards which may not have been disturbed by modern developments. Thewse may retain the Medeival street grid and therefore warrant further investigation.
