Description

Heritage statement for site of the Western Command Headquarters, built in 1936-37. Proposed development involves the demolition of all existing buildings on the site and the construction of houses and apartments. Existing buildings judged to have low significance. Retention of the bunker system with public access is ruled out on safety grounds. Recommendation is for infilling as only practical way of preserving the bunker structures.
