Description

As part of a phased programme of work surveys were carried out to determine the presence, nature and extent of potential archaeological features on the site and to retrieve and record any metal finds; the results being used to inform the need for further archaeological investigation or mitigation a the site. Significant metal artefacts were absent across much of the site but a concentration of artefacts was indetified on the south sid of the survey area including objects of probably Civil War date. Modern disturbance and a series of land drains were detected but the most notable feature was a wide linear feature crossing the north side of the survey area interpreted as a back-filled ditch associated with a former field boundary.
