Description
Two sites surveyed lie in separate fields to the eastern side of a Roman Road within Heronbridge Roman Settlement. There are many earthworks in these areas which have also been surveyed by the RCHME, these earthworks are thought to be both Roman and Medieval in date.
Resistivity survey on the north eastern field found an extensive complex of boundary ditches, hollows, ponds and other features were found throughout the length of the survey. In many instances these correlate with the RCHME survey. Of particular interest are the features found to the northern end of the site which are likely to be building foundations.
Radar survey in the south eastern field appeared to have picked up evidence of a structure including a clearly defined rectilinear feature running north to south which is presumably a building foundation.
