Date

Description
A combination of trial trenching and fieldwalking in order to investigate the survival of deposits adjacent to the line of the Roman road, on the line of the parish boundary, and on on a prominent glacial hillock, prior to the development of thearea for housing.
Although it is a striking landscape feature, there is no evidence that the glacial hillock was used in prehistory or that it has any archaeological value.
No evidence was found for either of the Roman roads. This suggests that they may lie beneath the existing carriageway or that they may not be preserved in this locality.
