Description

Archaeological investigation in the garden of No 53 Eaton Road (then owned by Mr Schroder) 90m to the north of an earlier discovery of a cremation burial and plinth stone. The plinth stone was interpreted as a boundary wall or a row of tombstones and in order to test the extent of this a trench was cut. (1) On this occasion, another cremation burial in a first century urn was encountered, along with evidence of a further two urns. In addition, two areas of rubble foundations approximately 4.5m apart were encountered suggesting that at this point the boundary wall/row of tombstones had been doubled. (1)
