Description
Observations made during the insertion of a new access path into the retaining bank at Stretton Mill (east of mill building) revealed only recently dredged silt from the mill pond, all muvh disturbed by tree roots. There was no evidence of the structure of the babk in the exposed sections (maximum of 0.4m deep)

I visited the above site this morning in order to inspect the ground disturbance associated with the new access path, in accordance with the archaeological condition attached to the development. Disturbance appeared to have largely affected material dredged from the mill pool over the years and dumped on the bank so no significant archaeological deposits were exposed. This completes the archaeological mitigation and I advise that no further archaeological work will be required.
