Description
The interred remains of a 'nun in an old coffin' were found at some time shortly after 1790 in the garden of Greyfriars' House, according to a contemporary eyewitness account (1). At the time of excavation, the clothing of the individual, described as a nun's habit, was preserved in addition to an unidentified object being held in both hands, but was reported to have 'fallen to dust' upon exposure (1). Although there is no other information on the nature of this find, it is likely that the remains derived from the Dominican Friary cemetery.
