Description
As part of an ongoing programme of remedial works to the failing sandstone retaining wall fronting St Olave's Church, Lower Bridge St., a single test pit was excavated adjacent to the wall with the primary aim of establishing the level at which natural sandstone bedrock occurs in this location. The single test pit measured 0.4 by 0.4m and was located within the pavement on the east side of Lower Bridge St. Bedrock was found 0.75m below the modern surface, and no archaeological features or finds were reported.
