Description

A large drain cut into the bedrock, and leading to the creek was found (1). This is the same drain as found in 1848 (ECH2416). The building was called 'Lamb Row' and stood at the corner of Bridge Street and Cuppin Street. During the excavation of its foundation a feature on an east-west alignment some 30m in length was recorded, thought to be a drain. The feature was 1.5m wide and at least 4.8m deep. At a uniform depth of around 2.4m the feature was crossed by a series of 3inch thick oak planks dividing it into two parts (2). The drain also appears to have been recorded in Pepper Street and Grosvenor Road (1).
