Description

The redevelopment of the site at 34 Cuppin St allowed the opportunity for archaeological investigation. All the buildings had been demolished, and the site was excavated to a depth of 1.7m below pavement level. Bedrock occurred at an approximate depth of 1.3m extending all over the site except at the western end where it was reached at a depth of 12m. There was no dating evidence. At the eastern end of the site an extensive area of cobbling appeared at a depth of 1.25m. A general scatter of pottery was collected and one pit group was isolated (1).
