Description

Excavations on the east side of Crook St. were carried out in 1939, for an extension to Quellyn Robert's Bonded Warehouse. The excavated area measured 62 feet north south and 32 feet east west. The western boundary of the cut was set back from the existing street front to a distance of 12 feet, and all the deposits (almost 10 feet thick) were removed. Of Roman structural remains, a small area of tile mortar flooring was reported (1).
