Description

English Heritage was originally asked to assess this building for listing in 2008, as the applicant believed that the property was unoccupied and potentially under threat. However, contact was made with the building's tenant who still occupied the property but who refused to allow internal access. The owner also failed to respond to repeated email and telephone requests for access. Initially there were concerns for the building's future due to possible plans for the building's demolition and replacement with new-build flats. However, in the summer of 2010 a new tenant took on the property and it remains in active use as a public house/nightclub with no plans for future development of the site apart from the possibility of creating a function room to the first floor. Consequently, the building is no longer believed to be under threat. It is not situated within a conservation area.
