This event was an archaeological assessment of three historic buildings adjacent to the Dee Lock (Buildings A, B and C), on New Crane St., Old Port, Chester, undertaken in response to two planning applications for redevelopment of sites to the north and south sides of the Dee Lock. The assessment was undertaken in concert with a historic fabric assessment of the buildings undertaken by Earthworks Archaeological Services. Building A appears to have dated to the late nineteenth century, while Buildings B and C earliest appearance on mapping dates to 1845 (a plan outlining lands owned by the River Dee Company).
