Site Event/Activity record ECH4810 - Number 24 King Street, Middleiwch: archaeological observations during erection of rear extension

Observation of excavated foundation trenches for rear extension weere examined. These had been cut downto natural sand across the southern part of the footprint which lay at a depth of c 0.8m below modern ground level. Within the eastern part of the footprint an existing concrete slab was being re-used. The material above the sand consisted of disturbed topsoil and there was no trace of roman activity or artefacts.
