Description

This event represents a supplementary programme of archaeological evaluation, carried out in December 2007, at the west end of Site 6 (which lies on the north side of Delamere St., Chester) within the larger Gorse Stacks redevelopment area. The evaluation consisted of the excavation of five trial trenches, as close to the Upper Northgate Street frontage as possible. Continual rebuilding, cellaring and quarrying has resulted in the survival of medieval and earlier deposits as pockets amid the later disturbances (1).
