Site Event/Activity record ECH4680 - Site visit to Stanlow Abbey August 2010

At the request of the English Heritage North West Regional Inspector of Ancient Monuments the English Heritage Archaeological Survey and Investigation Team were asked to assess the site of Stanlow Abbey with a view to undertaking survey and analysis to aid future management of the site, which is on the Heritage at Risk Register. As a result Stewart Ainsworth (Senior Investigator) visited the site on the 10th of August 2010 along with Jennie Stopford and Rob Edwards (Historic Environment Records Officer, Archaeology Planning Advisory Service, Cheshire Shared Services). The report summarises the results of that visit and present recommendations for an appropriate survey strategy.
