Castlering Archaeology
Date
January 2010
Description
Geotechnical test pitting, borehole drilling, and other investigations through the alluvium in the floodplain of the river Weaver were monitored in order to gather information on the nature and depth of the deposits and check for the presence of archaeological deposits. No archaeological remains were noted but the presence of deep, waterlogged deposits close to an area where extensive archaeological remains have been uncovered demonstrates the potential of the area.
