Description

Field visit to assess the impact of the RSPB's Rotary Ditcher to earthworks in the fields between Back Brook and the River Gowy, north east of Trafford Mill. Observations made from PROW/Permissive paths suggest that the sequence of scapes are up to c.300-400mm deep. Limited truncation of organic deposits located at approx SJ45067096 and the earthwork associated with the former overflow leat has occurred. Stone and brick work associated with the sluice to this channel survives and is visible in the bank of the Gowy.
