Description

A programme of Archaeological Monitoring was carried out at Walk Mill. This work encompassed the monitoring of excavations beside existing footings for the building as well as for a new mill race and settling pond. Fieldwork was carried out between the 13th February 2006 and 27th May 2008 on behalf of the owner. Historic research indicates that the has only been in use since the eighteenth to nineteenth century. It is thought that the mill was the first building to occupy the site and was initially used, until the twentieth century, as a fulling or walk mill for cloth, subsequently converted to a corn mill.
