Description
Environmental Statement on Cultural Heritage produced for the proposed Middlewich Bypass route in 2007, this further study followed on from an earlier assessment undertaken in 2006 as the proposed application area was enlarged each side of the Bypass route. GSB Prospection was commissioned to undertake additional geophysical survey on land south of Cledford Lane in order to supplement their survey of 2003 (ECH4002); this was undertaken in January and February 2007. A few additional anomalies of archaeological potential were recorded, mostly linear anomalies assumed to represent former field boundaries or field drains. Evidence of ridge and furrow cultivation was also recorded. A site walkover survey was also undertaken in January 2007 in order to confirm the current land-use and assess the impact of the proposed development on the built heritage. (1)
