Description
A watching brief carried out at the site of 158-160 Barrelwell Hill, Boughton, Chester, monitoring ground works undertaken during the alteration of the gardens there for additional car parking. The stratigraphy showed that part of the bank had been raised or terraced in the twentieth century and a rapid build up of humic soil had been deposited over it. This may be slip from higher up, as the land lies on a steep gradient. No archaeological features were present within the excavation area.
