Description

The stratigraphy showed that a layer of 20th century make up was deposited to level the site prior to the construction of a small industrial unit. Below this deposit natural subsoil and boulder clay could be seen sloping down to the north, towards the Roman road running on the line of the modern A51. No archaeological features were present within the trench area. This supports the historic and cartographic evidence for the previous agricultural function of the site.
