Description
Modern made ground rubble was seen overlying the natural sandstone rock. A well was discovered cut into the rock, with an adjoining shaft and standpipe. The well had been finally backfilled with 19th/20th century rubble and the presence of two wooden planks across it suggests it had been reused as a toilet. A pipe drain cut into the sandstone that fed into the well further clarified this.
