Description

From earlier surveys we discovered that Eaton Road was an extension of Watling Street and the main thoroughfare between Deva and London. Many Roman remains have been found beside this road. Ridge and furrow areas of agricultural development were also identified suggesting a pattern of Mediaeval farming in the area. There are still boundary lines visible. Some of the field boundaries may be of ancient origin, although some of the trees in the central area of the field are relatively young. There are also suggetions that there may have been marl points at some point in the fields' history. This is further evidence of Medieval and Post-Medieval farming techniques.
