Site Event/Activity record ECH4318 - Watching Brief at Clive Cottage, High Street, Farndon.

In archaeological terms the results of the watching brief carried out at Clive Cottage are disappointing. However, the original construction of the recently demolished structures may have resulted in a loss of archaeological information. But, it can be demonstrated that soil deposits and features datable to to the late post-Mediaeval period lie immediately above the natural glacial deposits. Further, in this general area, it seems highly likely that earlier archaeological features and deposits will survive away from the disturbances associated with the street frontage properties.
