Date
March - May 2002
Description
Following the completion of a desk-based assessment, the fieldwork consisted of the hand-excavation of six test pits. The results of the field evaluation in archaeological terms are disappointing. Across the site, where not disturbed by the construction of the modern ring road, deep homogeneous agricultural soil deposits of post-medieval date were identified. Only one archaeological feature of likely significance was noted, in test pit 5, close to the Garden Lane Street frontage; this feature was protected beneath a deep cushioning overburden.
