Description
A trial trench was excavated in the central part of the patio area. The evidence recovered indicates no survival of early archaeological finds or features. The make-up layers for the patio contained some early twentieth-century material. beneath the make-up layers was a brick construction. This had been a cellar and had been backfilled with bricks and other demolition debris. The debris and associated finds were early twentieth century in date, while the cellar construction is likely to be associated with a building shown on the 1874 Ordnance Survey 1:500 Map.
