Description
A test pit evaluation was conducted at St Michaels Church in October 2006 in advance of the construction of an annexe to the north side of the nave. Although there seems to be considerable potential for archaeological remains on the site of the churchyard, there was nothing to record apart from the expected burial and a few scattered remains. A previously unrecorded tomb cover in the churchyard leads us to postulate an earlier church building than known at present on this site.
