Description
A Watching Brief was maintained during the construction of a new building in the plot to the rear of Number 5, which lies on an early street frontage, close the hub of the town’s salt industry in the medieval and early post-medieval periods. Topsoil stripping revealed a single medieval pit cut into the natural clay but no evidence of the salt production seen during previous work on the plots to the north.
