Description
An evaluation undertaken on the south side of Welsh Row, within the plot occupied by the Burgess agricultural wholesaler’s site, which it is proposed to re-develop for housing. Trenching revealed deep accumulations of organic material but also much shallower deposits dating to the Roman, medieval, and post-medieval periods. It may be that these represent settlement on a former meander of the River Weaver.
