Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in 2004 at land near the Old Harp Inn, Neston. Prior to becoming an area of wasteland, the site was used in the eighteenth and nineteenth century as a quayside. Groundworks were monitored for surface clearance, also the excavation of a trench designated for a sewer overflow. The excavations did not extend below the nineteenth and twentieth century make up present on site. All finds retrieved dated to the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and comprised ceramic and glass sherds. No evidence of the quay was observed. (1)
