Description

Watching brief of buildings following fire in 2002. Remains encountered dated from the medieval period onwards. Other remains included a range of 17th century timbers, reincorporated into 18th and 19th century phases of reconstruction. The bulk of the house at the time of the fire dated from the 18th century. During the 20th century restoration appears to have taken place in 1988 and again in 1990, with some earlier phases that are likely to have removed potentially valuable archaeological deposits.
