Description
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in 2004 during the excavation of three test pits at the junction of the A49/A54, in relation to an ongoing programme of improvements to the existing water services. The site lies on the possible course of a Roman road. In one of the test pits, a surviving portion of a metalled surface preserved beneath the modern road was observed, but there was no evidence to suggest a date. (1)
