Description
An archaeological excavation undertaken during April 2002 on land off Centurion Way, Middlewich Cheshire (NGR SJ 7060 6700). The site extended to c.5.2 ha and lies close to an are of known Roman settlement, approximately 300m south-east of a fort. The results of a series of trial trenches had clearly demonstrated the archaeological potential of the northern part of the site and prior to the commencement of construction works, three sample areas, each measuring approximately 50m x 50m, were excavated.
