Description
Watching brief undertaken on land at the Cop Recreational Ground in advance of improvements to facilities available at the park. The works did not impact the Cop flood defence earthworks.
The ground works did not reveal any significant archaeological remains. Widespread Victorian dumped deposits and subsoil indicate significant recent disturbance. The air raid shelter on the northern site of the boundary was not disturbed.
A 20th century brick plinth was demolished during the works and was therefore recorded.
